Crossing a wooden bridge over the Mbagathi River, you are welcomed into the open, airy and informal environment of The Emakoko.

The Emakoko faces the Nairobi National Park and guests can watch the wildlife from the sitting room, the dining room and the cottages. The main building has different areas in which to sit, with fireplaces to keep guests warm during the evening. Just below this area is a swimming pool complete with bar and pizza oven!

Rooms

Tastefully designed and furnished with comfort in mind, the ten cottage style rooms may be configured as either double or twin rooms. The en-suite bathrooms have large bathtubs and a shower. Two of the cottages have a shared entrance - ideal for families with young children or friends travelling together. Each cottage has it’s own veranda, offering a peaceful and personal space for guests to sit and enjoy the view. There are five cottages built on the lower level and five on the upper level.

The Private House

The private house built on the clifftop offers an exclusive and personal space with spectacular views across Nairobi National Park. The house has two en suite bedrooms, an open plan sitting and dining room and a private swimming pool. The house has a kitchen and dedicated chef who can prepare meals or if preferred, guests can enjoy their meals in the dining room of the main lodge.

It is such an assault on your senses coming to a place like Kenya because it isn’t just wildlife, it isn’t just the dust, it’s the culture, it’s the topography, it’s the starry nights, it’s the skies. There is nowhere in the world like it. We are a home away from home, that’s the whole point of us.
— Emma Childs, The Emakoko
