The first community owned and run elephant sanctuary. EXCLUSIVE VISITS AT THE SANCTUARY is a must and is one of the best things you can do to help strengthen the community and protect all elephant that live in the area.

GAME DRIVEs
Early morning, evening and night game drives give an opportunity to see the samburu five. five species of herbivores that are found north of the equator. night game drives take you out into the bush in search of the nocturnal star of sarara, the leopard.

Guided walks
take a leisurely stroll out in front of the House or a more challenging hike into the mountains to take an up close and personal look at the de brazza monkey, glorious flora and fauna found in this remote location.

Il Konono Blacksmiths
An insight into the men who pass down their skill of crafting from generation to generation. watch as they create items out of metal. Additional cost involved.

SINGING WELLS (SEASONAL)
Experience the spectacular culture of the samburu where, during the dry season, the neighbouring communities come together to water their livestock. they sing as they pass up the water from the bottom of the well to fill the troughs.

Ololokwe EXCURSION
A full day trip from sarara, with a packed breakfast and lunch to the sacred Mount Ololokwe. The climb is a long, steep, fun and very twisty, following old elephant trails. additional cost involved.

fly camping
spend a night under the stars, sleeping in your own mosquito-DOME tent in the middle of a dry river bed, watching the stars in the clear sky above and listening to the sounds of the african night.

VILLAGE VISITS
one of the camp’s guides can take you to a samburu village where you can learn about their culture - their love of cattle, rite of passage, marriage, children and many other beliefs that dictate their way of life.

WATER SLIDE (SEASONAL)
A fun way to spend your morning or afternoon away from the Camp. slide down natural rock in water that originates in the mathews mountains and into crystal clear pools.

BEADING
join the samburu ladies and Learn FIrst hand how to bead. experience traditions that have been passed down for centuries. all proceeds from these workshops revert back to the community.

SUNDOWNERS
watch the sun go down over the beautiful northern frontier enjoying your drink of choice as the stars begin to glitter in the dark skies.
